About the Festival

The Dublin Festival of History is an annual free Festival, brought to you by Dublin City Council, and organised by Dublin City Public Libraries. The Festival has gained a reputation for attracting best-selling Irish and international historians to Dublin for a high-profile weekend of history talks and debate in the late Autumn. Previous speakers include Jung Chang, Alison Weir, Ian Kershaw, Tom Holland, Simon Schama, Peter Frankopan, Richard Evans, Charles Spencer, Hew Strachan, Peter Snow and many more.

The sixth Dublin Festival of History will take place from 24th September to 7th October 2018. This year’s Festival will once again have our Living History day for children and families at Richmond Barracks. Expect re-enactors, dressing up sessions, drama, history stories and much more, an ideal outing for the young history lover!
