| A committee member of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers Association, Philip Lecane has written many articles on the Irish in World War 1 and on local history. His book Torpedoed! The R.M.S. Leinster Disaster (2005), tells the story of the Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead mail boat, sunk by a German submarine in the Irish Sea in 1918, with the loss of over 500 lives.
