President of Ireland – Closing address at Dublin Festival of History

7 October @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Latest News- The President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins will deliver the  closing address at the Dublin Festival of History.

The Festival is honoured to have President Michael D. Higgins close the 2018 Dublin Festival of History. Our Festival this year has a strong focus on women’s suffrage and on the Decade of Commemorations.  President Higgins has made significant contributions to the public debate on these issues, drawing attention to the importance of embracing the complexity of our past, and our Festival always strives to explore the many narratives and genres of history.

President Higgins has spoken in the past about how history is the ‘inheritance of all our people’ and he has stressed the importance of making history accessible to as many people as possible. These are principles that underpin the Dublin Festival of History – our aim is to engage as many members of the public as we can in history, and encourage them to explore and discover history collections, whether print or digital, in our public libraries and archive.

This is a FREE event and there is no need to book tickets, all welcome on a first come, first served basis.
