4 October, 2016 @ 6:30 pm

The Star Man is a historical novel about William Kean, a journalist and rebel in the 1790s, and of his newspaper, the Northern Star, which for a few short years outraged the gentry and propagated revolt throughout Ireland. Conor will read from his new book and discuss the research and writing process.

Conor O’Clery  worked for The Irish Times for over thirty years, mainly as a correspondent based in Belfast, London, Moscow, Washington, Beijing and New York and was twice awarded Journalist of the Year for his dispatches. He is the author of several books, including Melting Snow, on the fall of the Soviet Union; The Greening of the White House, an account of President Bill Clinton’s role in the Irish peace process; as well as a journalistic memoir, May you Live in Interesting Times. His most recent book,‘Moscow, December 25, 1991’,  is an account of the last day of the Soviet Union.
