As part of its DIAS 2020 80th anniversary celebration, the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies invites you to an online screening of Professor Luke O’Neills documentary on Erwin Schrodinger’s achievements in Dublin, “Thinking Outside the Box – Schrodinger in Ireland”, followed by a discussion between Professor O’Neill and a panel of commentators and experts on the lasting impact and legacy of Schrodinger’s ‘What is Life?’ lectures and book to the present day.
Luke O’Neill is a professor of biochemistry in the School of Biochemistry and Immunology, Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute at Trinity College Dublin. He is a world expert on innate immunity and inflammation. He has received numerous awards and is a member of the Royal Irish Academy, EMBO (European Molecular Biology Organisation) and a Fellow of the Royal Society. Luke has a passion for communicating science to the public and has a weekly radio slot on the Pat Kenny show on Newstalk. In 2018 he published with Gill, the best-selling ‘Humanology: a scientist’s guide to our amazing existence’. Last October he published also with Gill, ‘The Great Irish Science Book’, a Science book for 10-12 year olds.
