The Dublin Festival of History is a new addition to Dublin city’s events calendar and is brought to you by Dublin City Council and is organised by Dublin City Public Libraries. The vision of the Dublin Festival of History is to provide those with an interest in history and who enjoy reading history for pleasure, an opportunity to listen and discuss a variety of history topics with authors and historians of national and international renown. The festival was officially opened by Lord Mayor of Dublin Oisin Quinn at The Printworks, Dublin Castle.
Events include lectures, panel discussions, film and historical walks of the city with activities taking place in Dublin Castle, the Dublin City Library and Archive, IFI and branch libraries across the city. There is a wide range of historical themes, eras and topics featured in this year’s programme and lectures in Dublin Castle and the city’s branch libraries are FREE. For more information see www.dublinfestivalofhistory.ie. Pictured with The Lord Mayor Oisin Quinn were Broadcaster John Bowman and Roy Hattersley, former Deputy Leader of the British Labour Party and Author.
