DESCRIPTION:Richard O&#8217;Carroll was a trade unionist and Labour Party councillor on Dublin Corporation\, first elected in 1907. He was killed by Captain Bowen-Colthurst during the 1916 Rising and was the only elected member of Dublin City Council to be killed while on active service during the Rising. \nBrian Hanley holds a PhD from Trinity College Dublin and has taught andÂ  published widely on twentieth-century Irish history. \nBooking required.
