A New Dawn in Irish Theatre: The Journey from Mountjoy to the Somme
October 7 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
Join Irish playwright Jimmy Murphy for this talk.
After O’Casey’s exile from Ireland and the Abbey, Irish theatre entered a phase of mildly amusing, middle class comedies that endured until the early 1950s, however, the arrival of a radical new play and a daring production signalled a seismic shift, reshaping the Irish theatrical landscape forever.
Jimmy Murphy’s plays include The Kings of the Kilburn High Road and Brothers of the Brush and most recently The Chief (Decadent Theatre Co.)
