Bodysnatchers, Surgeons and Insurgents: the History of RCSI
October 4 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
In 1784, a small group of Irish surgeons broke ranks with the Guild of Barber-Surgeons to form the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Ever since, RCSI has been at the heart of surgical, medical and societal change in Irish life, with its development of Dublin’s new medical district as the latest chapter.
This talk, by Dr Ronan Kelly, author of Every Branch of the Healing Art: A History of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (2023), will take place in the College’s historic home on St Stephen’s Green.
