Down by the River Poddle

October 2 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

**Apologies, registration full**

This river of many names, mostly flowing underground, out of sight and often forgotten, has borne witness to all the key events of our shared history.

It creates estate and parish boundaries, illustrates how skilled our Medieval ancestors were at hydro-engineering, it protected our city and citizens from invasion and most importantly provided water for Dublin’s thirsty citizens.

It was also a source of power for mills and industry. Join Dublin City Historian in Residence, Cathy Scuffil, for a journey along this river as she highlights the elements of the river Poddle’s history that hide in plain sight.

This talk is running in conjunction with the Crumlin & Walkinstown History Group’s website launch on the history of the Poddle River.

Note: Limited spaces, email walkinstownlibrary@dubllincity.ie to book.
