September 25

A month by month chronological account of life in Fingal in 1921, from the increased violent activity at the start of the year, through to the truce and the expectations for peace and independence that grew through the summer and autumn to the signing of the Treaty in December. This talk will recall the events and episodes in the political, economic, social, cultural and military life of Fingal, recreating what the year 1921 was like for the people at the time: the highs and lows, the important and the ordinary, the winners and the losers of everyday Fingal.

Fingal Festival of History will run from 25th September to 2nd October 2021. No advanced booking is required. Video links will be shared on Fingal Libraries’ social media and on www.fingal.ie throughout the week.
