Join Francis Thackaberry as he talks about the coming of the Great Southern and Western Railway to Inchicore.

This event was often seen as the beginning of the transformation of the area into a suburb. Ironically Dublin’s suburban spread into the western end of the city began a lot earlier.

This talk will look at the early development of the area in the period 1770 to 1870. It will take into account the topographical features, power sources and transport infrastructure which shaped that development.
