Interwar Ireland: State-Building and Peace-Making

The Irish Research Council (IRC) will showcase some of the most exciting research in Ireland today.
IRC-supported researchers will share insights on their latest projects and join in conversation to outline an Interwar Ireland, of state-building and peace-making.
Dr Dolan will present her research on the phenomenon of restraint; exploring how Ireland managed to experience less violence during and after its revolution in an inter-war Europe.
Dr Drea will offer insight into the performance of Irish commercial banks during the time of crisis in a partitioned Ireland.
Dr Hughes will explore the lived experiences of southern loyalists, during and after the foundation of the Irish Free State in 1922.
This event will be chaired by Professor Jane Ohlmeyer.
