Michael O’Donoghue – The Life of a 19th century Kevin Street Police Sergeant

September 25 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Free

Presented by Kevin Street Library.

Kevin Street Library is delighted to host a talk about Michael O’Donoghue, a Dublin Metropolitan Police (DMP) sergeant who lived most of his life at 9 Lower Kevin Street in the late 19th century.

This event explores aspects of the history of Dublin and Kevin Street through an examination of Michael’s life and career and the incidents he experienced during the course of his duties. Along the way, attention will also be paid to the types of sources available for those wishing to engage in their own genealogical or local history research projects.

In addition to commemorating the life of a Kevin Street police sergeant, this talk will illustrate the interconnectedness of family, local and national history.

The speaker, Dr Eoin Ó Donnchadha, is a Dublin-born historian, teacher and occasional lecturer. He is particularly interested in family, social and medieval Irish history. Eoin holds an MA and PhD from the School of History, UCD.
