“Literary Grandmothers” literary conversations with Julie Morrissy and Darina Sikmashvili
September 26 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Join us for a conversation and literary event with Irish poet Julie Morrissy and Ukrainian writer Darina Sikmashvili as they delve into their projects about grandmothers.
Morrissy will discuss her award-winning project “Certain Individual Women”, which explores womanhood in Ireland over the past 100 years.
Sikmashvili will share her novel-in-progress Mariya Petrovna, which spans Georgia, Ukraine, New York and three generations of women. The writers will investigate how we are shaped by our grandmothers, and Ireland and Ukraine’s shared histories of war, famine and migration.
This is a two-part event followed by a workshop Writing Family Histories.
Note: Limited spaces, booking essential.
