Murdered, Forgotten, Nameless: Seamus Heaney and Exploration of Ancient and Contemporary Violence

October 1, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Free

Presented by Seamus Heaney: Listen Now Again

Seamus Heaney throughout his career has expertly navigated through the plains of the violence and crafted the links between ancient ritualistic killings of bog bodies to contemporary examples of barbarity in Northern Ireland and the United States while also piecing together ancient Greek and Roman dramatizations of warfare with contemporary US foreign policy during the Iraqi conflicts.

Join Sophie Doyle from Seamus Heaney: Listen Now Again for a lecture as part of this year’s Dublin Festival of History exploring these connections and analyzing the cyclical image of violence in the work of Seamus Heaney.
