Neglected reputations: The forgotten Yeats sisters, Susan and Elizabeth.

October 3 @ 1:10 pm - 2:00 pm

This talk by Eunan McKinney, Project Director of The Yeats Sisters Commemoration Project, will explore the neglected creative and entrepreneurial reputations of Susan and Elizabeth Yeats.

For almost 50 years in the first half of the 20th century, the Yeats’ sisters made a lasting contribution to the cultural identity of an emerging new state, the Irish Arts & Crafts movement and the empowerment of young Irish women.

Hear about the all-female craft guild, Dun Emer Industries of Dundrum and Cuala Industries in Churchtown, which made an exquisite range of ‘beautiful things’ and published over 70 works while advancing the artistic careers of a numerous Irish artists, designers and writers.
