Series of events in Ballybough and North Strand
September 28 @ 12:00 pm - October 12 @ 9:00 pm
The Ballybough and North Strand area of Dublin is a vibrant community rich in history. We are showcasing a small series of free events for all in the community. Sean Deegan of In The Shadow of Croker Walking Tour and Tenement Museum will do a series of talks on the history of Jones Road Whiskey distillery as well as launc the new featured wall display in Clonliffe House on Saturday 28th of Sept. The display will touch on The Battle of Clontarf, Buck Jones of Jones Road, Bram Stoker and his connection to Ballybough, Mud Island and its interesting history, 1916 and Michael Collins as well as featuring a series of photographs of local sports stars from the area.
We are excited about the talk on the music of the SFX Theatre which features Paul Page formerly of Whipping Boy as well as David Bell – Music Merchandiser to bring back some of the memories of the exciting gigs which once took place in The SFX Hall. Donal Fallon will moderate this event and it will be followed by a DJ set featuring the bands that played in the SFX.
Hidden behind a shutter in Ballybough is Richard Adams unique studio which he has been restoring furniture for over 50 years. We take his experience and showcase his studio and his craft on a journey through the history of Irish furniture.
