September 24 @ 1:15 pm - 1:45 pm
Presented by National Museum of Ireland – Natural History.
Join Curator, Dr. Amy Geraghty, for the online talk – Tales from the Decant: Getting into the Spirit of Things.
Dive into the spirit collection of the National Museum of Ireland – Natural History. The collection contains anything kept in alcohol or liquid. Learn about some of the range, uses, and history of the collection. Also learn what is involved for maintaining and safely moving it!
“Tales from the Decant” is a series of online talks programmed throughout 2021 and will feature Museum staff sharing stories about their work. Over the last year Museum staff have been removing and storing thousands of bones, fossils, stuffed animals, dried insects and spirit collections, as part of a decant project to clear the Museum building for important future refurbishments. Throughout the series, learn about their discoveries, on-going research and care of the NMI-Natural History collections.
