The Armagh-Dunsink-Harvard Telescope: First cross-border agreement between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland
October 10 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pmFree
The Armagh-Dunsink-Harvard telescope (ADH) was the first major international project undertaken by Dunsink Observatory following the observatory’s re-opening as part of DIAS’ School of Cosmic Physics (founded in 1947).
The ADH was an opportunity to develop an international collaboration with Harvard and to build closer links between Northern Ireland and the Republic during a difficult period between the two jurisdictions, leading to the first official agreement between Northern Ireland and the Republic. Join representatives from Armagh Observatory & Planetarium, DIAS Dunsink Observatory and Harvard, and special guests to talk about the historic agreement and the telescope.
