The Camac in Inchicore-Kilmainham – Small Stream, Mighty River
October 12 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm
A three kilometre, guided walk provided by Kilmainham Inchicore Heritage Group following the route of the River Camac from Lansdowne Valley Park to what was once the western boundary of Dublin City at Bow Bridge.
Though sometimes referred to as a stream, the flowing water of the Camac facilitated settlement and development in Inchicore Kilmainham over many centuries and powered four mills in the area, including Arthur Guinness’s flour mills and one of Ireland’s largest woollen mills.
In tracing the route of the river, the walk will highlight the tangible heritage it has left in the landscape.
