The Early History of Fairview and Marino

October 5 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

This talk is part of the Marino 100 series of talks, celebrating the centenary of the development of the Marino estate, the first estate built in the Free State after independence.

Mark Crowther, Chair of the Marino Residents Association, will look at what was there before the development, including historical aspects of the surrounding area. Why is there a Jewish Cemetery on Fairview Strand? Where did Winston Churchill stay? Where can you find crow’s feet markings of the Ordnance Survey of 1824?

This talk is part of the Marino 100 History Talks series, running until February 2025. See https://marino.ie/centenary/ for details.
