The evolution of the Navan Road
October 12 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

**Booked out**
How did the area which now forms the Navan Road parish evolve? In this talk, local resident and historian Enda Finnan examines the transformation of the rural community and landscapes of the townlands of Greater Cabragh, Ashtown and Pelletstown from the 1920s to the 1960s.
As Dublin’s population migrated from the tenement-dominated city centre to new suburbs, land holding in the district passed from religious institutions and private owners to developers and co-operatives who built the housing we know today.
Using a wide range of sources, this richly illustrated talk explores the twentieth-century transformation of the area as a new suburban landscape and community replaced former farmland.
