The History of Irish Coinage

October 13 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

A member of the Numismatic Society and a specialist in Numismatics at the National Museum of Ireland will be speaking at our event. Currently the presentations will surround the history of coinage in Ireland, with the presentations focusing specifically on the coinage of the Irish Free State and further to this the Coinage Competition of 1927.

The presenters may look at design elements of the coins and how these designs tied into Irish national identity; composition of the coins; or elements of the competition itself. We are leaving the specific topics that our presenters wish to present on very much up to them as long as we stay within the scope of the coinage of the Irish Free State and a bit more broadly the history of coinage in Ireland.
