September 25

Free

How clandestine diplomacy, political compromise and military stalemate brought an end to the Irish War of Independence. John Dorney is an independent historian and editor of the Irish Story website. His Master’s in History was on Florence McCarthy and the Conquest of Gaelic Munster. He is the author of two books: Peace After the Final Battle, the Story of the Irish Revolution, and The Civil War in Dublin, the Fight for the Irish Capital, 1922-1924.

Fingal Festival of History will run from 25th September to 2nd October 2021. No advanced booking is required. Video links will be shared on Fingal Libraries’ social media and on www.fingal.ie throughout the week.
