To Record Things Done and Thought: Exploring P.H. Pearse’s Unfinished Autobiography
October 7 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pmFree
Presented by The Pearse Museum.
Over Lockdown, the Pearse Museum embarked on a project to create a transcription of the manuscript of Patrick Pearse’s unfinished autobiography which has never been published in its entirety. Pearse never managed to get beyond describing his very early years, and yet even this offers a fascinating insight into the private Pearse. The manuscript itself, with its changes, crossing-outs and revisions, also reveals how he struggled to reconcile competing aspects of his personality, and shape a narrative of his life which he could leave to posterity.
In this online event Brian Crowley, the Collections Curator for the Pearse Museum, will lead an online exploration of the Autobiography manuscripts. He will be joined by Niall Buttlery, a student from TU who worked on the project with him.
