A walking tour of the veterans houses on Quarry Rd, Cabra built in 1920’s specifically for soldiers from WW1 and their families.

The houses were administered by the pioneering Sailors and Soldiers Trust an unusual North-South body that remained active after partition.

The housing provided in Cabra was one of a number of similar developments around the country.

The style of the houses was replicated by the Irish government for subsequent large-scale housing schemes in the rest of Cabra and elsewhere, including a complete new suburb at Killester in north Dublin.
