The History of History Lecture Series

Parts 2 and 3 of this series will take place in the New Year:

25th January 2018 The History of History II: from Marxism to Fukuyama

7th February 2018 The Legacy of History: the history wars, commemoration and beyond

Join Historian in Residence Maeve Casserly as she delves into the complex  world of how we write history. What is historiography? What exactly is revisionism and why is it so controversial? Take a step outside your history book and test the theories of some of the important (and sometimes forgotten) historians in Irish and international history. Were they always in pursuit of the facts, or just great storytellers? Join Maeve as she argues for AND against the defence of History. This is a three-part lecture series, and you can come to one or attend all of the talks:

Dublin City Library and Archive, 138-144 Pearse Street

5th October 6.30pm The History of History I: from Herodotus to von Ranke
