Workplaces are crucial elements of human communities. The presence of paid employment can determine the future of a region, influencing not only economic prosperity but also physical development, environmental impact, and the identity of both communities and their residents.

Conversely, the loss of paid employment sources can have adverse effects on the individuals involved and the areas where they were located.

Dublin City Historian in Residence, Mary Muldowney, will focus particularly on workplaces that closed down before the end of the 20th century.

Attendees will be encouraged to share their memories of working in the Ballymun area during the 1970s and 1980s.
