Nicola Pierce

October 9 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

**Apologies, registration full**

Nicola Pierce, author of The Spirit of the Titanic and Chasing Ghosts, an Arctic Adventure, discusses her latest novel of historical fiction, In Between Worlds, the Journey of the Famine Girls.

The book was inspired by the Earl Grey Scheme: between 1848 and 1850, over four thousand orphaned Irish girls, aged 14 – 18 years, bravely volunteered to leave their overcrowded workhouses and sail off for a new life in Australia.

Pierce gives a fully illustrated talk on the writing of her novel, the story of the Famine, the Workhouse and Irish emigration.

This talk is suitable for 4th/5th/6th classes.
