One of the greatest Irishmen of his day: Joseph MacDonagh
October 2 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Unlike his more famous older brother, 1916 leader Thomas MacDonagh, the story of Alderman Joseph MacDonagh, TD has been largely forgotten.
At different junctures in the Irish revolutionary period, he was a Sinn Féin activist, councillor, including for Rathmines Town Council, TD, and a political prisoner who went on hunger strike three times.
His revolutionary role reveals a charismatic, fascinating figure whose part in the fight for Irish freedom has been mostly obscure until now.
Talk presented by Gerard Shannon, a public historian of the Irish revolutionary period and author of the recent biography, ‘Liam Lynch: To Declare a Republic’.
