Textile Roots – Ireland’s Textile Heritage
October 3 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Creating textiles has always been at the heart of Irish culture. Weaving goes back to ancient times and Ireland enjoyed a thriving wool trade up until the late 17th century, from the 19th century onwards lacemaking, weaving and the Aran knit threw a lifeline to struggling rural communities.
Today, the heritage continues to inspire. Using historic and contemporary images Vawn Corrigan will lead you through this fascinating journey. There will be a show-and-tell of interesting Irish-made textiles.
Vawn is the author of many historic, craft and textile writings, including ‘Irish Aran and Irish Tweed’.
